His Holiness the Dalai Lama will arrive in Ireland later today on a three-day visit. His Holiness will begin his engagements in Ireland with a talk on “The Spirituality of Compassion” at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church in Kildare.
The Tibetan leader who recently announced his decision to devolve his powers to an elected Tibetan leader will also address the “National Civic Summit” in Dublin later in the day. Among the speakers will be former President and ex-UN Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson.
The 1989 Nobel Peace Laureate will take part in a series of events for the social change initiative ‘Possibilities 2011′.
The Dalai Lama will also visit the University of Limerick on Thursday to address an audience of 3,000 on ‘The Power of Forgiveness’. The two-hour event has been organised in conjunction with the Children in Crossfire organisation, which was established by Richard Moore, a long-time friend of the Tibetan leader.
The Irish Chamber Orchestra’s youth chorus will perform a new song especially written for the visit, while other performers will include the Monks of Glenstal Abbey.
